RVS Olympic Point Show - XC - Alice

It was right in the middle of BP's competition season, and Isobel was starting to feel the pressure of the competitions, but Alice was just as ready as ever. The horse was like a machine, chugging through competition after competition, stamping into challenges head on. God, she loved that mare. This was their first time competing in cross country alone: They usually combined all three disciplines in three day eventing, but Alice seemed to enjoy herself.
Despite the rainy weather, Alice was prancing around, snorting and pulling on the reins as they waited for their turn. She didn't like to stand still. Not at all. But it didn't last for long. The mare exploded out into a barely contained gallop when it was their turn, her hooves steadily banging against the wet grass with audible thuds. The rain poured from the sky in ice cold drops from hell, and Isobel regretted not putting on long sleeves, but she didn't care about it for long. She just hoped that Alice was as steady as she seemed, because the rain made it hard to see and made the grass slippery. She wasn't exactly nervous, but she was still worried. If Alice lost her footing, they would fall and Isobel did not want that at all. Getting a horse on top of you was not fun. Having to put down your favorite horse was worse.
But Alice chugged on like a train, taking each obstacle head on, but with caution. As long as the lightning and thunder stayed away, Alice would make it.
